Waiting On Wednesday: A List of Cages by Robin Roe

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine in which we share a book that we are eagerly anticipating!

For this week, my “can’t-wait-to-read” choice is:

A List of Cages by Robin Roe

Author: Robin Roe

Publisher: Disney-Hyperion

Format: Hardcover, 320 pages

Release Date: January 10th 2017

Pre-order at: Barnes & Noble Amazon logo bookdepository logo

When Adam Blake lands the best elective ever in his senior year, serving as an aide to the school psychologist, he thinks he’s got it made. Sure, it means a lot of sitting around, which isn’t easy for a guy with ADHD, but he can’t complain, since he gets to spend the period texting all his friends. Then the doctor asks him to track down the troubled freshman who keeps dodging her, and Adam discovers that the boy is Julian–the foster brother he hasn’t seen in five years.

Adam is ecstatic to be reunited. At first, Julian seems like the boy he once knew. He’s still kind hearted. He still writes stories and loves picture books meant for little kids. But as they spend more time together, Adam realizes that Julian is keeping secrets, like where he hides during the middle of the day, and what’s really going on inside his house. Adam is determined to help him, but his involvement could cost both boys their lives.

  1.  Representation: Both main characters are/were foster kids and one has ADHD.

2. Friendship / Brotherhood :  There is a strong bond of friendship between our main characters in this book and I feel like that’s a breath of fresh air. There’s nothing like a good depiction of friendship in books.

Tell me, is this book already in your TBR? (Have I convinced you to add it? 😉 ) What books are you most looking forward to? Let me know in the comments below!!

    1. Me neither! I’ve heard such great things about this book; it’s supposed to be heartfelt and very emotional and that’s my favorite type of book so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it 😀

  1. I’m excited to read this book as well. For some reason, the blurb reminds me of an episode of The Fosters, which is one of my favorite TV shows. Hope we both love it when we finally get to read it 🙂
